Hoyas Defeat GW 1-0 in Vogel's Debut
8/27/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
Maureen McCartney sent the corner kick through a maze of players to the far right post and Ostrander was there to put it in the upper left corner of the net. The goal was the only one given up by freshman goalkeeper, Christine O'Malley (Davis, CA/Davis Senior), who played an otherwise flawless game in goal for the Colonials.
The match was a back and forth physical battle between two inspired teams. There were 25 total fouls for the match. The Hoyas outshot the Colonials 14-12. Kesha Christoph (Columbus, OH/Tatnall School) and Tiffany Williams (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) led GW with three shots apiece, while Angelica Caramanica (Huntington, NY/Huntington) and freshman, Nicole D'Hondt (Grosse Pointe, MI/Gross Pointe South) each tallied two. O'Malley finished with nine saves, while her counterpart Emily Main finished with two.
The Colonials, who started five freshman today, will next play at Princeton on Saturday, September 2.
