GW Baseball Sweeps La Salle

Phildadelphia, PA- The George Washington baseball team swept La Salle University three games this weekend at Hank DeVincent Field in Philadelphia, PA. The Colonials won the first game 3-2, the second 17-3 and the third game 16-10 for the sweep. The wins improve the Colonials' record to 11-4 in Atlantic 10 Conference and 29-18 overall, while the Explorers fell to 7-30 overall and 3-12 in the A-10.
In the first game, junior pitcher Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) threw his third complete game of the season to earn his seventh win of the season. Belicic limited the Explorers to two runs on seven hits and struck-out three batters. The win improves Belicic's record to 7-4.
The Colonials got home runs from Matt Krimmel (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) and Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Alban's) to help lead GW to the victory.
In the second game, the Colonials' offense exploded for 17 runs on 17 hits. Krimmel, Matt Walker (Pittsburgh, PA) and Jake Wald (Alexandria, VA/TC Williams) led the way offensively for GW. Krimmel went 3-4 on the day with two RBI's and three runs scored. Walker collected two hits and had two RBI's. Wald went 3-4 on the day with three RBI's and two runs scored.
Greg Conden (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) earned his seventh win of the season. Conden limited the Explorers' offense to no earned runs and struck out six to improve his record to a team-best 7-0.
The Colonials offense did not let-up in the third game. The Colonials pounded out 16 runs on 24 hits as everyone in the starting line-up collected at least one hit. Seven Colonial batters had three or more hits on the day.
The day was highlighted by senior Ryan Dacey (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis). Dacey tied the Colonial record for most hits in a career with 257. Dacey tied the mark in the third inning with a single to left field. Dacey went 3-4 on the day with two RBI's.
The Colonials return to action next weekend when they host the Xavier Musketeers in a three-game series at Barcroft Park in Arlington, VA. A double-header is scheduled begin at noon on Friday, with the final game set for noon on Saturday.
