Women's Basketball Defeats La Salle, Advances in Conference Tournament

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Petra Dubovcova had 17 points, including eight in the final four minutes, as George Washington held off La Salle 75-69 in an Atlantic 10 Conference quarterfinal game Saturday afternoon.
Dubovcova helped the A10 West Division champion Colonials (24-4) pull away from La Salle. Marlo Egleston had 12 points and Elisa Aguilar added 11 despite making just 3-of-13 from the field for George Washington, which has won four in a row and 22 of its last 24.
La Salle's Jen Zenszer had a career-high 26 points, including six treys and 8-for-8 from the foul line. Suzanne Keilty had 15 points and Shannon McDade added 12 for the Explorers (12-17), who outrebounded the much taller Colonials 43-31.
After La Salle pulled to 48-47 with 7:01 remaining, the Colonials went on a 9-2 run with three consecutive treys.
The Explorers cut the lead to five when Zenszer sank two free throws with 3:28 left. But Dubovcova scored eight of the next 10 for the Colonials, who opened a nine-point lead with 51 seconds remaining to put the game away.
The Colonials went on an 8-0 run early in the second half and gained a 43-34 advantage with 11:41 to go. La Salle came back with a run of its own, with Zenszer sinking a trey with 7:01 remaining to make it 48-47.
George Washington grabbed a five-point lead midway through the first half but La Salle scored eight of the last points of the period to tie the score 25-25 at the half. The Explorers outrebounded GW 28-12 in the opening half.
