GW's Lawrence Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington University's Erica Lawrence was named Atlantic 10 Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week today for her performances against Fordham and Virginia Tech last week. It was the second time this season that Lawrence has received Rookie of the Week recognition from the conference.

Lawrence, a 6-0 freshman forward from Nyack, NY, averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as the Colonials defeated Fordham, 87-41, on Sunday and Virginia Tech, 73-58, Wednesday night. For the week, Lawrence shot 77.3% (17-22) from the field.

Lawrence recorded a career-high 19 points on 9-12 shooting to complete the season sweep of Virginia Tech. She added six rebounds and three steals and held Virginia Tech center Nicole Jones scoreless. Against Fordham, Lawrence scored 16 points and grabbed three rebounds in just 20 minutes of action.

For the season Lawrence averages 10.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, third on the team.

GW (18-3, 9-1) returns to action with a 7:00 pm game Friday night at Rhode Island (2-19, 2-9).
