GW Baseball Takes Two From Le Moyne in Home Opener

Junior Dan Rouhier (McLean, VA/St. Albans) broke a scoreless first game in the bottom of the sixth with his first home run of the season. That was all the offense the Colonials needed as junior Adam Belicic (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) pitched a complete game shutout. Belicic struck out three Le Moyne batters, and earned his first win of the season. The win improves his record to 1-2, while Jaime Steward (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) took the loss.
In the second game, freshman Greg Conden (Oswego, NY/Oswego Free Academy) pitched six innings of shut -out baseball, and earned his second win of the season. Conden had eight strike outs and only one walk as he improved his record to 2-0 on the season.
The Colonials broke the second game open with a five run first inning. In the inning, GW used doubles by senior Ryan Dacey (Edgewater, MD/Annapolis), sophomore Mike Bassett (Paramus, NJ/ Paramus) and Rouhier to take charge of the game. Bassett added his first homerun of the season to extend the lead to 3-0 in the third inning. For the game Bassett went three for three with 2 RBI's. Freshman Jake Wald (Alexandria, VA/TC Williams) collected two hits as did senior Matt Walker (Gibsonia, PA/South Carolina), junior Tony Brown (Hockessin, DE/A.I. DuPount) and Belicic.
The wins improve the Colonials record to 3-6 and drops the Dolphins to 0-2.
The Colonials and Dolphins meet for the last game of their three game series tomorrow at Barcroft Park, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
