Warner Leads Women's Soccer, 2-1
10/8/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
Warner tallied her first goal at 16:03 of the first half. Erin Coppedge (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) fed the ball into space and Warner chased it down in the box then beat Rams goalkeeper Shannon Misiaszek from about 10 yards out. Warner and the Colonials extended the lead at the 57:55 mark of the second half when Angelica Caramanica (Huntington, NY/Huntington) served the ball into space and let Warner track it down. Warner gained control and slid her shot underneath a sliding Misiaszek to put GW up 2-0. Fordham cut the lead to 2-1 in the 83rd minute when Lauren Garuccio took a cross from Colleen Sullivan and put a nice shot over GW goalkeeper Christine O'Malley (Davis, CA/Davis Senior). However, Garuccio's goal would not be enough as the Colonials were able to hold on and win their first match at home this season and improve to 3-1 in the Atlantic 10.
GW will look for its fourth A-10 win this Friday, October 13 when it travels to Rhode Island to play the Rams at 7:00 p.m.
