Dayton Shuts Out Women's Soccer, 4-0
10/29/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
The Flyers got on the board in the game's 12th minute when Megan McKnight blasted a shot into the left side of the net past GW goalkeeper, Christine O'Malley (Davis, CA/Davis Senior).
With just under two minutes remaining in the first half the Flyers struck again, as Lindsey Whitehead capitalized on a Colonials turnover deep in the zone and ripped a shot from ten yards out to make the score 2-0.
The Flyers added two more goals in the second half and the lead proved too much for a valiant GW squad.
Although the Colonials ended their season with a loss, GW improved upon last year's 3-15 record and will be strong next season. Vogel loses only two seniors from this year's squad and returns the dynamic duo of junior Erin Coppedge (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) and redshirt freshman Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) up front. With juniors Kesha Christoph (Columbus, OH/The Tatnall School), Angelica Caramanica (Huntington, NY/Huntington) and Tiffany Williams (Randallstown, MD/Liberty H.S.) also returning and another strong recruiting class on the way, Vogel and assistant coach, Brian Pensky have the program headed in the right direction.
