Golfer Bryan Derdenger Wins Stabler Invitational

BETHLEHEM, PA (Oct. 15, 2000) GW's Bryan Derdenger fired a one-over-par 145 (69-76) and defeated Bucknell's Ken Kosteva on the fourth playoff hole to win the Stabler Invitational, Saturday, October 14 at Bethlehem, PA. The junior from Scottsdale, AZ, led the Colonials to a fourth-place finish, eight strokes behind Princeton (596) and just one stroke behind Pennsylvania and Colgate who tied for second each totaling 603. Eighteen squads competed in the two-day, 36-hole event on the par-72, 6,916-yard course at Center Valley Country Club.
Derdenger and Kosteva (71-74) were tied with 145s at the end of regulation sending the pair to a playoff. Both players bogeyed the first hole and each parred the next two holes before the decisive fourth playoff hole where Kosteva bogeyed while Derdenger parred for medalist honors. GW junior Thomas Blankvoort was three strokes back at 148 (73-75) placing him in a five-way tie for sixth among 92 individuals.
