UMass Holds On Against Women's Soccer, 2-1
10/15/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer
UMass scored the only goal of the first half as junior forward Brooke Bartlett took a pass from Green and beat GW goalkeeper Christine O'Malley (Davis, CA/Davis Senior) at the 19:58 mark.
Green scored the decisive goal off of a pass from junior midfielder Martha Conover to give UMass a two-goal lead early in the second half.
Redshirt freshman Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) continued to be a bright spot for the Colonials this season scoring her fifth goal of the year and cutting the lead to 2-1 at 84:15. Warner's goal was set up by juniors Tiffany Williams (Randallstown, MD/Liberty) and Erin Coppedge (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's). The goal made things interesting down the stretch, but the Minutewomen were able to hold on for the victory.
GW returns home next weekend as it faces Duquesne at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20 and St. Bonaventure at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22. Both matches will be played at South Riding Field.
