Washington, DC - (October 15, 2000) - University of Massachusetts sophomore forward Jeff Deren scored off the rebound of a save by George Washington University sophomore goalkeeper Nick Parypinski to give the Minutemen the win today at South Riding Field.
The Minutemen attacked early in the match, keeping the Colonials on defense and peppering Parypinski with 11 shots in the first half. Parypinski stood strong in the net, making six saves, and only surrendering the lone goal of the match off a rebound of an athletic stop. GW struggled on offense, managing only two shots before the break.
The Colonials came out firing in the second half, out-shooting the Minutemen 11-5 and pressing UMass constantly. However, GW was unable to put the ball past Minutemen goalkeeper, junior Bryan O'Quinn who had four saves on the day.
The Colonials were without two of their starters, forward Jason Holloway, who is second on the team in scoring, and back Fridrik Omarsson for the second straight match.
The Colonials (7-4-2, 4-2 A-10) next visit the Duquesne Dukes (6-6-2, 3-2-1 A-10) on Friday, October 20.
