Colonials Men's Soccer Clip Hawks' Wings 4-1

Washington, DC - George Washington junior Jason Holloway (Milwaukee, WI/Marquette University HS) scored twice and notched an assist on another goal to lead the Colonials against St. Joseph's October 1 at South Riding Field.
The Colonials struck early in the match when in the fifth minute junior Gregg Friedman (Holland, PA/Council Rock) put home his first goal of the season on a cross from Holloway in the mouth of St. Joseph's goal. Five and a half minutes later, Holloway took the ball from a Hawks defender and put a shot in over the charging goalkeeper Michael Drozdick.
St. Joseph's got one back in the 38th minute when the Matt Kulinski scored on a similar play to GW's Holloway, taking the ball from a Colonial defender and chipping a long shot over the head of GW's junior goalkeeper Nick Parypinski (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) who was charging the play. Parypinski was solid on the day, denying the Hawks with five saves on 15 shots.
GW kept up the pressure in the second half, with Holloway scoring his second goal on a beautiful lead header by sophomore Matt Osborne (Bingham, Notts, England/Toothill Comprehensive School) in the 68th minute. Osborne later scored on a corner kick in the 84th minute from junior Riccardo Forno (Toronto, Canada/James Cardinal McGuigan) that freshman Justin Evans (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington HS) headed toward the mouth of the goal, which Osborne then put between the pipes.
With the late score, Osborne extended his scoring streak to four games, dating back to the September 20 match against George Mason. Over the four matches, Osborne has scored six goals, bringing his team-leading total to eight.
With the win, the Colonials record is now 5-2-2, 2-0 in Atlantic 10 action. GW hits the road for a match against La Salle on Friday, October 6.
