Rodriguez-Smith Resigns As GW Women's Soccer Coach

Rodriguez-Smith's teams compiled a record of 14-25-1 over the last two seasons. She was named the Colonials' interim head coach in 1998 after four seasons as GW's assistant coach. She replaced former head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski who left GW to coach the United States U-18 Women's National Team and has since been named head coach at the University of Maryland College Park.
Rodriguez-Smith's 1998 GW squad posted an 11-10 overall record, 9-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and qualified for the 1998 A-10 Women's Soccer Championship for the sixth consecutive year. That team set a school record with eight consecutive victories after an 0-6 start.
The 1999 Colonials finished with an overall record of 3-15-1, 3-7-1 in the A-10.
