Bill Collins, a 1972 graduate and four-year baseball letterman, was a switch-hitting catcher who excelled both at and behind the plate. The Colonials' captain, MVP and the All-Southern Conference catcher as a senior, Collins was drafted in the 18th round by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1972. He played in the Brewers organization for three seasons, progressing to the Triple A level in 1974 before retiring from baseball to begin first a political and later a successful business career in Washington.
Collins, a native of Oxon Hill, Md., who prepped at DeMatha Catholic High School, has been involved in the communications industry - cable, cellular and paging - since 1977. Collins served as president of Collins & Associates, a nationally recognized firm specializing in campaign management - political, charitable and corporate fundraising - and governmental affairs.
Collins and his wife Kerry, have three children reside in Great Falls, Va.
