Franklin Jennings enters his second season with the GW baseball program in 2026.

Jennings, who spent two seasons with Army prior to joining the Revolutionaires, joined head coach Gregg Ritchie’s staff as the team’s Offensive Coordinator/Director of Defense/Assistant Recruiting Coordinator. Jennings also assists Coach Ritchie with hitter development and offensive strategies. He coaches third base and is responsible for the training of GW’s infielders. Jennings assists in the implementation of scheduling, training and development during team practices as well.

Jennings arrived in West Point prior to the 2023 season as a volunteer assistant with the Black Knights before being elevated to an assistant coach role ahead of the 2024 campaign. Jennings’ two seasons with Army were nothing short of stellar, helping guide the team to two Patriot League Championships and two trips to the NCAA Regionals. Jennings’ work with the defense helped the Black Knights achieve the second-highest fielding percentage in the conference in 2024, while also playing error-free in 21 full games. Jennings also saw two players move on to professional baseball, one as a free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals and another as a 10^th round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.

“Jennings provides great energy,” said former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Eric Crozier. “He cares about connecting with players in an effort to help them become the best version of themselves.”

Prior to his time at Army, Jennings spent four seasons as an assistant coach with Central Connecticut State’s baseball program from 2019-22. While with the Blue Devils, Jennings helped guide the team to two Northeast Conference Tournament championships and two appearances in the NCAA Regionals. During his first year in 2019, the Blue Devils knocked off 24^th-ranked Cal during the NCAA Regional, marking the program’s first NCAA win in what was then the team’s sixth appearance.

“The addition of Franklin Jennings is a win for GW,” said Bryant baseball head coach Ryan Klosterman. “Jennings is no stranger to playing for championships year in and year out. His passion, intensity and competitive drive will be felt immediately within the baseball program as he has a natural ability to lead and inspire the next wave of student-athletes in D.C.!”

A native of Montgomery, N.Y., Jennings’ collegiate baseball journey began in 2014 as a player with Central Connecticut State. Jennings was a career .291 hitter, tallying 187 total hits and an on-base percentage of .342. He recorded 50 RBI in his career and was named an All-NEC First Team selection during his senior season. In that same year, Jennings and the Blue Devils captured the NEC title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

“I’ve known Franklin Jennings since he was 16 years old,” said Central Connecticut State assistant coach Pat Hall. “His work ethic and passion for the game are tremendous. His ability to create trusting relationships with players is elite. George Washington hired an outstanding coach, but a better person.”

Following his collegiate career, Jennings went on to play professionally with the Somerset Patriots (Atlantic League), Eastside Diamond Hoppers (USPBL) and New York Bucks (Empire League).
