George Washington University Athletics
Welcome to the Office of Educational Support Services, we are located at The Charles E. Smith Center (Lower Level/Nelson and Michele Carbonell Academic Center, 600 22nd St. NW, Washington, DC 20052). The Office of Educational Support Services provides an array of services to student-athletes. The services that we offer include academic support and advising, tutoring, career preparation, leadership development, community service, and diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.
The Office of Educational Support Services encompasses two areas: Academic Support and Student-Athlete Development, with an emphasis on individual responsibility and pride in academic accomplishments. The GW Student-Athlete Development program, as part of educational support services, focuses on creating a well-rounded student-athlete engaged as a leader in the GW community and beyond. Programming consists of community service, career services and leadership opportunities on and off campus for student-athletes.
The Department of Athletics employs six full-time staff members and 30-40 tutors to assist our student-athletes. Through the support of the faculty and administration, the mandate of The Department of Athletics, and the dedication of the student-athletes, the department claims a high graduation rate for all of its sports.
At the George Washington University, athletic and academic excellence are inseparable goals for student-athletes. The University is committed to the academic success and graduation of students participating in its athletic programs. The Department of Athletics supports this commitment with educational support services in order to maximize the potential for success of every student-athlete.
