GW student-athletes excelled once again on the NCAA's Academic Progress Report (APR) card.
17 GW programs posted perfect single year APR scores of 1,000: baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, men's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's track, women's indoor and outdoor track, volleyball and water polo. As a department, GW Athletics registered a 997 APR for 2024-25.Â
Six teams recorded perfect 1,000 multi-year APRs, including baseball, gymnastics, lacrosse, softball women's swimming & diving and water polo, while women's swimming & diving and water polo extended their runs of having a perfect multi-year APR to four-straight reports. The Revolutionaries notched as 992 multi-year APR as a whole.Â
The multi-year APR is the average of an athletic program's single year APR scores over the last four years.
This year's multi-year APR averaged single year scores from the 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. 15 GW programs enjoyed a multi-year APR greater than 990: baseball, women's basketball, women's cross country, gymnastics, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, tennis, women's indoor and outdoor track, volleyball and water polo.
All 20Â Revolutionaries teams recorded multi-year APR scores that far exceed the 930 threshold required by the NCAA for postseason participation.
"Our Revolutionaries continue to excel in the classroom," said Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz. "We're incredibly proud of their academic excellence, which includes a 97% graduation success rate and cumulative GPA of 3.4."
The NCAA implemented the APR in 2004 to provide a more real-time measurement of academic success than graduation rates offer. The team-based metric accounts for the eligibility and retention of scholarship student-athletes by awarding one point each term for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.Â
