
Schwartz Inks Deal with Evansville Otters

WASHINGTON – 2024 and 2025 GW baseball MVP Ellis Schwartz has inked a deal with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, the club announced on Thursday.
Schwartz, a vital piece to GW's lineup over the past two seasons, capped his collegiate career by slashing a team-best .346 from the dish in 2025. He tallied 72 total hits, drove in 45 RBI, belted nine home runs and scored 48 runs for the Buff & Blue, all of which led the club this season. He joined a short list of just four other players to win consecutive team MVP awards, joining Noah Levin, Joey Bartosic, Mike Welch and Joe Ross.
Over his two years with GW, Schwartz hit a combined .351, notching 144 hits and driving in 88 RBI. He played and started in 109 games, all in center field, and accumulated a .984 fielding percentage, captaining the outfield. His on-base percentage finished at a stellar .457 for his career and he stole 34 bags as well. He also got it done in the classroom, earning CSC Baseball Academic All-District honors in 2024, honoring his work both on and off the diamond.
Prior to joining GW, Schwartz played three seasons at Emory, where he appeared in 83 games. He was a D3Baseball.com All-Region honoree in 2023.
Schwartz joins former GW teammates Steve DiTomaso (Downeast Bird Dawgs) and Brett Young (Brockton Rox) in the Frontier League. Schwartz went 2-for-3 from the dish in last night's 10-1 win, driving in two RBI and scoring one run in his professional debut.
