WASHINGTON - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Monday that GW catcher Allison Heffley has been named the A-10 Player of the Week. Heffley led the Revolutionaries to a 4-0 mark (3-0 A-10) last week with jaw-dropping offensive numbers, which include an almost perfect on-base percentage and an average of three runs scored per game.Â
The graduate transfer in her second year in the Buff & Blue had perhaps her best week since arriving in Northwest Washington, going 7-8 (.875) with six walks and one hit by pitch for a .933 OBP. Heffley added to her unbelievable stat line with 12 runs scored, six RBI, two home runs and three doubles.
The veteran catcher gelled with all five pitchers who appeared for GW last week, accounting for 22 putouts on the pitching staff's 23-strikeout week. Heffley also proved to be a risk to run on, throwing two Bonnies out in Friday's doubleheader.
The game of the week for GW's backstop came on Wednesday, when Heffley was the largest contributor to GW's 18-2 win over Morgan State, going 3-3 with 5 RBI on two doubles, a home run and one walk.
Heffley's season stats have ballooned as a result of her phenomenal week, as she now holds a .452 batting average and 1.265 OPS, and has proven to hold a key bat in GW's lineup.Â
GW's next game is on Wednesday, when the Revolutionaries go to battle against Harvard at the GW Softball Field. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
