
Indoor Track Excels In Championship Weekend

Virginia Beach, Va. - The GW Revs kicked off championship weekend on Friday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, highlighted by a silver medal from Sarah Mitchell.
Mitchell's second-place finish in the 5,000m in 16:39.73 was just a few seconds behind the winning pace, with Katarina Birimac of Fordham claiming the event in 16:36.06. Mitchell's stellar showing was also only seconds behind the existing program record of 16:20.52, set at the A-10 Championships during the 2019-20 season.
In the trials, Kamryn Holness finished 25th with a time of 9.39, just two seconds shy of her program record time of 9.37 set at her last showing. In the 60m, Madison Hardamon led the way for the Buff & Blue, clocking in at 7.85, just shy of her program record time also earned at the last meet. Janae Russell (7.99), Holness (8.01) and Danielle Dyer (8.07) also competed in the event for GW.
In the 200m, Hardamon earned a 20th place finish overall, pacing the way for the Revolutionaries with a 25.61 time. Russell (26.08), Dami Oyatayo (26.16) and Dyer (26.44) also made a showing for GW. Racing in the 400m, Oyatayo earned a time of 59.39 to earn 18th place overall.
Moving to the 500m, Lainey Goldstein paced GW with a 1:17.85, while Olivia Clark (1:18.60) and Rylan Priest (1:18.84) followed in tow. In the final trial event of the day, Shannon Hieber earned a 3:03.13 finish for the Buff & Blue to finish 21st overall.
Saturday's action kicked off with the mile final, with Mitchell once again leading the way for GW, cruising to a sixth place finish in 4:55.65. Hadley Mahoney earned ninth place in a 4:58.28 finish, while Claire Bohan tapped in at 5:06.03 (16th).
In the relays, the 4x400 team of Olivia Clark, Dami Oyatayo, Rylan Priest, Madison Hardamon finished eighth in 3:52.59, just seconds shy of their program record earned at the last meet.
Looking ahead, the Buff & Blue will continue on the track, turning to the outdoor season. Action is slated to begin in late March, and the full outdoor track schedule will be publicly announced soon.
