Antonio Florena placed on MAWPC All-Conference Second Team, as Vasillije Marinkovic and Andrea Forno earn All-Conference Honorable Mentions
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – The Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) announced its 2025 All-Conference Awards on Thursday, naming GW senior utility Adonis Vlassis to the All-Conference First Team, sophomore attacker Antonio Florena to the All-Conference Second Team, and both graduate goalkeeper Vasilije Marinkovic and first-year center Andrea Forno to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Vlassis led the charge on offense all-season long – and for the second-straight season – for the Revolutionaries. The senior from Athens, Greece, by way of St. Francis College (Brooklyn), earned his second consecutive MAWPC All-Conference First-Team recognition in as many years on the Buff & Blue. Vlassis leads GW into the conference championship this weekend with the most goals (103), assists (46), points (149) and steals (49) by a Revolutionary, as he nears GW single-season records in goals (124) and points (185).
Florena earned his second MAWPC All-Conference recognition this season after being named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team in 2024, and now the All-Conference Second Team in his sophomore season. From Napoli, Italy, Florena's impact continued to be felt this season as he closed the regular season with the third-most goals (57) and points (76), while also swiping the second-most steals (32) by a member of the Buff & Blue.
Marinkovic earned his first-career MAWPC All-Conference honor as he placed on the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team in his first-year as a Revolutionary. The graduate student from Kotor, Montenegro, played as GW's primary goalkeeper in 2025 after transferring in from Mount St. Mary's, and finished the season with 255 saves and a .432 save percentage.
Forno also claimed his first-career MAWPC All-Conference honor, named to the Honorable Mention Team in his first collegiate season. The center from Rome, Italy, was a force on the inside for the Buff & Blue, leading the team with a GW single-season record 93 ejections drawn, while scoring the second-most goals (59) and collecting the fourth-most points (68) in the regular season.
No. 3 GW straps in for the first round of the MAWPC Championship, where they will look to complete the season sweep vs. No. 6 Mount St. Mary's on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
