Rowing Opens Fall Campaign at Head of the Schuylkill

PHILADELPHIA - After a cancellation on the Schuylkill River two weeks ago, GW rowing finally got on the river Saturday afternoon as part of the Head of the Schuylkill regatta.
The Buff & Blue entered five boats across two races with the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 taking part in the Championship Eights while the Third, Fourth and Fifth Varsity 8s competed in the Club Championship.
GW's top boat placed 13th in the Championship Eights outpacing Saint Joseph's and Fordham, among others, while the 2V8 finished 22nd out of 27 boats.
In the Club Championship, GW's 3V8 crossed in 12th with a time of 13:47.205, slightly over a minute behind first place Penn (12:40.967). The 4V8 finished 39th and 5V8 placed 47th out of 54 boats.
GW will wrap up the fall next weekend with split squad action across the weekend at the Head of the Occoquan on Saturday and the Princeton Chase on Sunday.
