WASHINGTON - Head Coach Chrissy Schoonmaker and the GW softball program are excited to announce the team's 2025 schedule. The 53-game slate includes four early-season tournaments, matchups against nine conference opponents and the earliest start on home field in program history.Â
The season gets underway on Feb. 7-9 as GW travels to Clinton, S.C. to participate in the Blue Hose Invitational, hosted by Presbyterian. GW's first game of the 2025 season comes against Morehead State and is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Feb. 7 in the first of five games on opening weekend.
The Revolutionaries then return to The Vern to open up play at the GW Softball Field earlier than they ever have before, hosting Holy Cross for a three-game set on Feb. 15-16 and Coppin State for a one-off, non-conference matchup on Feb. 18.
GW goes back on the road to play a five-game tournament at UNCG on Feb. 21-23 - where assistant coach Jordan Gontram will make a return to her alma matter - followed by a four-game tournament at Texas A&M on Feb. 28 and March 1, where GW will battle a proven Aggies team who finished last season third in the SEC at 15-9 in conference play (44-15 overall) and reached the NCAA Austin Super Regional.
The Buff & Blue are then set to host the GW Invitational on March 7-9, when GW welcomes Manhattan and Albany for a six-game invite at home. With field lights and facility upgrades in-place, the Revolutionaries will host the first-ever regular season night game at the GW Softball Field in the first game of the GW Invitational (March 7 vs. Manhattan at 5:00 p.m.).
Conference play begins on March 15 at home as the Revolutionaries host St. Bonaventure for a three-game weekend series at the GW Softball Field. Down the schedule, GW will line up for a home conference series vs. the reigning A-10 Champions, Dayton (March 29-30), along with Fordham (April 12-13) and Rhode Island (26-27).
GW hits the road for its first A-10 road series of 2025 on March 22-23 when they visit UMass for the final time as a conference foe before the Minutewomen leave for the Mid-American Conference in 2025-26. Later A-10 road series include a midweek clash at George Mason (doubleheader on April 2) and trips to Saint Louis (April 5-6), Saint Joseph's (April 18-19) and Loyola Chicago (May 3-4) for three-game conference battles.
The 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship returns to The Vern this coming season for the first time since 2016. The Revolutionaries will host the top-six teams from the A-10 regular season for the postseason championship tournament on May 7-10, with an additional rain date scheduled for May 11.
