Softball Adds Nine to 2025 Roster

WASHINGTON - Head coach Chrissy Schoonmaker and the GW softball team have announced the addition of nine student-athletes ahead of the 2025 season. The group of incomers includes four first-years and five transfers, and they join 12 returning student-athletes from 2024 to fill out the 2025 roster.Â
"We are thrilled to welcome these nine student-athletes to GW and our program," said Schoonmaker. "We project this class to make an immediate and lasting impact in the program and we look forward to seeing them thrive. The first-years have each been playing a highly competitive travel schedule and competing for championships with their respective programs. They bring energy, talent, and fire to our roster and we look forward to them beginning their careers in the Buff and Blue."
The group of transfers includes four All-Conference selections from the Ivy League and one student-athlete from the Big South. Notably, Coach Schoonmaker reunites with two student-athletes from Harvard, where she coached prior to taking over the program at GW.
All four first-years come to GW from the West Coast, building upon the team's existing strong western connections. Three of the first-years come to GW via Southern California, while one comes from Arizona.
"Our transfer class will add great leadership, a high level of collegiate experience and a seasoned skillset to our roster. Four of these student-athletes were named All-Conference players in their league, and three of them captained their respective programs. Their commitment to excellence combined with their strong character will propel this team forward. We are looking forward to taking the field with this year's team," Schoonmaker noted.Â
