Lacrosse Welcomes La Salle for Senior Day

WASHINGTON – The George Washington lacrosse team is set to celebrate its 2024 senior class on Saturday ahead of the team's final game of the season. Opening draw against La Salle is set for 1:00 p.m. at the GW Lacrosse Field, with Senior Day festivities set to take place roughly one hour prior to the game.
LAST TIME OUT
Last Saturday, GW dropped a road matchup with A-10 power UMass. Phoebe Mullarkey and Desiree Kleberg tallied GW's two goals on the day, while Arden Bogle recorded nine saves in net for the Buff & Blue. The loss was GW's second-straight after securing a 15-14 overtime victory over VCU on April 6. That contest against the Rams featured Emma Nowakowski setting the program record for most goals in a game with eight, ultimately earning her A-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors.
CELEBRATING THE SENIOR CLASS
Prior to Saturday's contest, GW will honor the nine graduating members of the lacrosse program. Players to be honored include Bailey Aaron, Alex Aufiero, Chamberlaine Bell, Saundra Godshall, Desiree Kleberg, Katie Lederman, Phoebe Mullarkey, Emma Nowakowski and student assistant Katelyn Panebianco. Senior Day festivities will take place on the field and are set to begin at roughly 12:05 p.m. with warmups to follow afterwards.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
La Salle enters the final game of the season 2-11 overall and 0-8 in Atlantic 10 play. The Explorers most recently dropped a 16-11 game to George Mason, extending the team's losing streak to nine games. La Salle is led by Head Coach Katie Rhodes Abbott, who's in her sixth season with the program. Rhodes Abbott has accumulated a 20-62 record over her tenure with the program, leading the team to five-win seasons three times.
On the field, La Salle is led by Katie Johnson with 39 points on the season. Johnson has 31 goals and eight assists this season with 50 shots on goal. Mackenzie Click has 19 goals and four assists on the season, while Alana Lathan has registered 13 goals and six assists. Defensively, Claudia Steinmetz leads the squad with 15 caused turnovers, while Grace Lord has 13. Click leads the team with 21 ground balls, while Lord has 20.
