Tennis Falls in Opening Round of A-10 Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. – The George Washington tennis team fell to Richmond on Wednesday in opening round action of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship hosted in Orlando, Fla.
Richmond built an early lead after picking up victories in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Spiders won No. 2 doubles 6-1 over GW's Victoria Sasinka and Madison Lee, while earning a hard-fought 6-4 win in No. 3 doubles over Alejandra Ramirez and Solange Skeene.
Stella Wiesemann put GW on the board, registering a 2-0 (7-6, 6-2) victory in No. 1 singles. Unfortunately, GW was unable to keep the momentum going, dropping Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles to fall 4-1 in the match. GW's Gabriela Giraldo held an advantage in No. 2 doubles by a score of 7-6, 4-2, but that match concluded unfinished.
