CONWAY, S.C. - The George Washington softball fell on Saturday, 6-0, to Coastal Carolina. GW falls to 1-2 in the Kickin' Chicken Classic with two games remaining on Sunday.

Coastal's Raelee Brabham and Kaitlin Ryan pitched a combined no-hitter in the contest. GW reached base five times via three walks, one hit by pitch and a Chanticleers' fielding error, but was not credited with a hit on the afternoon. Revolutionaries' grad student Maggie Greco accounted for two of GW's walks, earning the free bases on a pair of long battles at the plate.

Sophia Torreso made the start for GW and set down nine of the first ten batters in the game. It took Coastal until the fourth inning to record a hit off the GW first-year, but after finding their first hit, the Chanticleers settled into their home ballpark and hit a two-run home run to break the scoreless tie.

Coastal worked over two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, extending its lead to six, where it would stay until the finish.

NOTABLE

Torreso made her first career start in the circle and went 4.2 innings, allowing four runs off five hits while striking out four. Rose Cano relieved Torreso and pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing two runs on one hit.
Cano, who started the game defensively at second base, led all players with three assists.

The Revolutionaries return to St. John Stadium tomorrow morning for two more games on Opening Weekend. GW opens the day with a rematch against Bucknell (9:00 a.m.), before closing its stay at the Kickin' Chicken Classic against Syracuse (11:15 a.m.).
