WASHINGTON - Looking to return to its winning ways, the George Washington women's basketball team visits Fordham Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip on the Rams' Rose Hill Campus in the northern Bronx. ESPN+ will have all the action live.
Nya Lok will be the one to watch for GW as she enters play just four points shy of 1,000 career points, spread across her time at Midland College in Texas and at GW. Her well-traveled basketball journey has taken her to locales across the globe to compete as she wraps up her time in Foggy Bottom as a graduate student.
The teams last met on Jan. 11, 2023 in DC in a 63-57 win for GW. In that contest George Washington snapped a six-game losing streak to the Rams, powered by 23 points from then-first-year player Nya Robertson, who went on to win A-10 Sixth Woman of the Year.
Fordham (6-13, 1-7) has lost its last five contests, and is tied with St. Bonaventure and UMass for the final spot in the conference standings, a half-game behind GW. The Rams' lone conference win came against the Bonnies at home earlier this month, as Saturday's foes share a win against St. Bonaventure in common, with the GW Revs having downed the Bonnies on the road prior to their recent mini three-game skid.
The Rams are middle-of-the-pack offensively and defensively in the A-10, having scored 61.3 ppg this season (11th) and allowed 63.3 points per contest (8th) for a -2.0 ppg net. Conversely, despite the Revolutionaries' record, GW has outscored opponents this season on average 58.2 to 56.6, with the ppg allowed mark ranking fifth-best in the league.
Taylor Donaldson is the one to stop for George Washington, as her 17.8 points per game not only leads Fordham but is also tops in the A-10. She does her damage from long range, also topping the league in 3-pointers per game with 2.8/contest. Robertson's 15.9 ppg average leads GW and is fourth conference-wide, while also ranking fourth in 3s per game (2.5).
