WASHINGTON - The A-10 Champion George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams, who swept the conference again last season for the second-consecutive year, are back for the 2023-24 season this weekend to host Virginia Tech at the Smith Center. The meet begins with diving at 7 p.m. on Friday evening and will resume with swimming at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Saturday's portion of the meet will be streamed on ESPN+, and full results will be available on the Meet Mobile app.
2022-23 REWIND
Last season, the Buff and Blue proved yet again that they are the A-10's premier swimming and diving program, as the men's team was crowned champions for the sixth time in the last seven years, and the women's team topped the A-10 for the third time in the last four years.Â
The season culminated last February in Geneva, Ohio with dominant performances from both teams at the 2023 A-10 Championships. The men won by a comfortable 275.5 points over the second-place team, while the women won by an even bigger gap of 315 points. The Buff and Blue reached the podium 53 times in the competition and broke 21 program records, 10 A-10 meet records and eight A-10 overall records.
Head Coach Brian Thomas was named as the A-10 Coach of the Year for both the men and women for the second-straight year, and then first-year Phoebe Wright was tabbed as the women's Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.Â
Following the A-10 Championships, individual medley phenom Julia Knox qualified for the NCAA Championships, where she represented the Buff and Blue in three events, finishing as high as 24th in the 400 IM.

GW welcomed 16 student-athletes to the swimming and diving program in the offseason, who will be making their Buff and Blue debuts this weekend.
