PRINCETON, N.J. - Behind six different goal scorers, the GW Revolutionaries made sure their stay in New Jersey ended on a winning note with a 13-10 victory against Chapman on Sunday. The team got out to a 4-2 lead after one, sparked by tallies from grad student Mateus Stellet, junior center Leo Lueddemann, senior center Viktor Jovanovic and sophomore Peter Durkovic in the opening frame. Chapman revered the opening quarter score in the second, as the teams went into halftime knotted at six after Stellet found the goal again as did junior Andrija Sekulic.
GW put some distance between themselves and their foe in the third, scoring five times while allowing three, as first-year Kai De Orbeta notched a pair, Jovanovic racked up two of his own, and Lueddemann struck again.
Stellet then put the game away in the fourth with the Revolutionaries final two goals.
The win sends GW out to California for three games against Loyola Marymount, La Verne and Concordia University Irvine next weekend.
SATURDAY
Facing a California Baptist squad Saturday, which already had four games against ranked teams under its belt, the Revolutionaires fell, 19-9, to begin its stay at the Princeton Invitational.
The Lancers jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first quarter, but GW managed to keep things close at the half after an even 3-3 second frame. CBU started to take control of the game after outsourcing GW, 6-1, in the third quarter, and the Revolutionaries weren't able to climb out of a 13-5 hole in the final quarter, eventually falling 19-9.
Sekulic and Jovanovic each contributed four goals on eight shots, while Patrick McCann netted his second goal of 2023.
The Revolutionaries later fell to No. 18 Harvard, 16-9 in the nightcap of Saturday's play.
