Men’s and women’s swimming & diving share Team of the Year honors
The annual Georgey Awards were held on Tuesday night in historic Lisner Auditorium on the campus of George Washington University, celebrating the university's best and brightest student-athletes, teams and moments from the past year.
Hosted by Kevin Conlon (men's track and cross country), Libby Garfoot (gymnastics), Miles Grant (men's track), Nya Lok (women's basketball) and Dara Reyblat (women's diving), the show honored the accomplishments of GW's 20 teams and 400 student-athletes in competition, the classroom and the community, while sending off outgoing President Mark Wrighton with a heartfelt tribute from the university's student-athletes.
After the glitterati walked the buff carpet, awards and MVPs were bestowed throughout the ceremony.
The winners were:
Raise High our Community Student-Athlete (most community service): Celeste Noraian (rowing) and Ethan Tulenko (men's swimming)
Raise High our Community Team:Â Gymnastics
Determination, Commitment and Respect Teammate Award: Miles Grant (men's track & field) and Elizabeth Rowland (rowing)
Fan of the Year:Â Ryan Puleo
Academic Team of the Year:Â Tennis
Raise High Donor of the Year:Â Kristie and Dan Helfrich
Moment of the Year: Men's and women's swimming & diving celebrating A-10 titles together again for the second straight year
Staff Appreciation Award:Â Nicole Feliz
Rookies of the Year: Maximus Edwards (men's basketball) and Phoebe Wright (women's swimming)
George's Games winner (most supportive to fellow teams):Â Men's cross country & track
Red Auerbach Award for well-rounded excellence: Brendan Adams (men's basketball) and Mayowa Taiwo (women's basketball)
Athletes of the Year: Julia Knox (women's swimming) and Marek Osina (men's swimming)
