
Men's Basketball Opens A-10 Championship Wednesday vs. No. 10 Saint Joseph's

Colonials and Hawks square off at 5 p.m. on USA Network
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball will begin its Brooklyn journey on Wednesday evening, taking on 10th-seeded Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Championship Second Round. Tip at Barclays Center is scheduled for 5 p.m. with coverage on USA Network.
GW IN THE ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP: GW earned a first-round bye for the second-straight season, also entering the tournament as the No. 7 seed in consecutive years. The Buff & Blue are 3-6 as the No. 7 seed in the championship.
The Colonials are 3-4 all-time in the second round and are looking to advance to the A-10 quarterfinals for the first time since 2017. GW has won two A-10 Tournament titles in 2005 and 2007, and advanced to the final on two other occasions - 1991 & 1998.
A-10 POSTSEASON AWARDS: GW garnered six postseason accolades announced by the league on Tuesday. Brendan Adams was named the Most Improved Player in the circuit, Maximus Edwards earned GW's first Rookie of the Year award since 2000 and James Bishop IV was tabbed to the All-Conference First Team, GW's first representative since 2006.
TOP-SCORING OFFENSE IN THE LEAGUE: GW led the A-10 in scoring in the regular season with 76.3 ppg (73rd NCAA). The Buff & Blue also paced the circuit in field goal percentage at 47.3% (37th NCAA). The Colonials' 76.3 ppg is an improvement of 7.9 ppg over last year, and the best since the 2005-06 A-10 Champions scored 78.9 ppg. GW's field goal percentage of 47.3% is the best for the program since the 2004-05 A-10 Tournament Champions shot 47.7%.

The Colonials and Hawks split the season series this year, with GW pulling out a 92-91 overtime win on Jan. 25 at home before falling, 81-69, in Philadelphia on Feb. 11. GW is 4-4 all-time against Saint Joseph's in the A-10 Tournament, with the last matchup going the way of the Hawks in the 2016 Quarterfinals, also held at Barclays Center.
The Hawks feature a dynamic trio of guards, led by the A-10's second-leading scoring in Erik Reynolds II (19.4 ppg), who was named Second Team All-Conference. Cameron Brown (13.3 ppg) and Lynn Greer III (12.3) combined with Reynolds to score 46 points per game for the Hawks.
