GW wraps A-10 Championship prep at UVA
WASHINGTON - On the tails of two dual-meet victories and ahead of the A-10 Championships later this month, GW swimming and diving travels to Charlottesville, Va. for the Cavalier Clash, hosted by UVA, this weekend. The eight-team competition spans from Friday through Sunday and features teams from up and down the east coast, including GW, JMU, Johns Hopkins, UNC, UNC Wilmington, Richmond, Virginia, and William & Mary.
All three days of the competition begin with prelims in the morning and finish with finals in the evening. Start times for each day can be found on the online schedule, and live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app.
Last Time Out:
GW is coming off a wire-to-wire victory over Georgetown. The Colonials took an early lead in the meet, winning each of the first seven events, and never looked back. In total, GW won 20 of 26 events, including a perfect 13-for-13 performance from the GW women. The Colonials broke five McCarthy Pool (Georgetown) records on the way to its sixth-consecutive sweep of the Hoyas.
A Peek at the Competition:
The Colonials will face a mixture of familiar foes along with some new faces. The Buff and Blue already went toe-to-toe with Johns Hopkins at the start of 2023, and will see conference rival Richmond later this month at the A-10 Championships. GW last faced William & Mary, UVA and JMU at the 2021 Cavalier Clash, while UNC and UNC Wilmington bring along fresh competition GW's way.
