Saville’s Two Goals Not Enough to Lift Men’s Soccer over Duquesne
10/14/2023 10:15:00 PM | Men's Soccer
PITTSBURGH - Louis Saville recorded a multi-goal night for the Revolutionaries, but the George Washington men's soccer team (2-8-4, 0-5-1 A-10) wasn't able to get past Duquesne (6-5-2, 3-2-1 A-10) and lost, 3-2, on a rainy Saturday night in Pittsburgh.
HOW IT HAPPENED
2nd Minute: An early GW corner kick was passed short to Nico Medina, whose cross deflected and found Saville at the top of the box. Saville drove a one-timed, left-footed shot into the bottom left corner of the net from distance to give GW an early 1-0 lead.
30th Minute: Duquesne's Cameron Territo scored on a penalty kick after the Revolutionaries were called for a foul in their own box.
31st Minute: Moments after the Dukes' equalizer, Saville beat a Duquesne defender down the side of the box and sent in a cross, which took a deflection off a Duquesne defender into the net.
38th Minute: Duquesne forced a turnover off a dead ball in GW's defending third and got the ball to Ask Ekeland, who brought the game level. Nate Dragisich was awarded with an assist on the play.
48th Minute: Duquesne led for the first time in the match after a give-and-go pass combination between Ekeland and Tate Mohney opened enough space for Ekeland to score his team-high eighth goal of the season.
