Carvalho scores game-winner in 78th minute
WASHINGTON - For the second time in as many games, GW men's soccer utilized a goal right around halftime to spur a comeback effort, knocking off Columbia on Friday afternoon, 2-1, in come-from-behind fashion.
With its 2-0-1 start, the Buff & Blue are off to their best three-game start since 2005, when they also started 2-0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 37th Minute: Columbia struck first off a corner kick from Will DeKnight that found Jack Muoio for the opening tally.
- 45th Minute: With less than 15 seconds to go in the opening half, Roee Tenne lobbed a cross to the far post where Aaron Kronenberg headed it in between the keeper and the pole to even the score.
- 78th Minute: Off a free kick from just outside the box, Tiago Carvalho hit a curling ball that reflected off the Columbia wall in front and past the out-of-position keeper for the winning goal.

- Carvalho's goal was the first of his career and came in game-winning fashion.
- Kronenberg notched his first goal of the year, and third of his career.
- GW has scored eight goals in its first three games from six different players.
- GW has come from behind in both of its wins this season, yielding the first goal against both Manhattan and Columbia.
- Both teams played down a man for the final 52 minutes after double red cards were issued to GW's Lucas Matuszewski and Columbia's Ryan Wallace in the 38th minute.
- Columbia held the edge in shots, 14-9, but both teams put three on net.
