
Cross Country Records Pair of Top-Four Team Finishes at A-10 Championship

Four Buff & Blue runners take home All-Conference honors
MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – George Washington cross country put together a dynamic performance at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday at Polo Green Park with the men's and women's teams both finishing in the top four for just the second time in program history.
Individually, Ryan Fowkes, Michael Bohlke, Yukino Parle and Sarah Mitchell all took home All-Conference honors.
Fowkes, whose sixth-place finish was highest among all GW runners, set a new school record in the five-mile with a time of 24:11.6.
NOTEWORTHY:
• Fowkes has now set a new GW record in consecutive meets. Two weeks ago at the ECU Pirate Invitational, Fowkes recorded a new program record in the 8k with a time of 24:18.21.
• The men placed third overall on Saturday, giving the team its highest finish since 2017.
• With their top-15 finishes, Bohlke and Fowkes become the first pair of men's cross country teammates to earn All-Conference honors since 2017.
• The GW men have now had at least one All-Conference performer each of the last three years.
•The GW women placed fourth overall as a team. It is the women's program's fourth-straight year finishing in the top-four at the conference meet.
• Parle's time of 17:12.9 is the second-fastest 5K time in program history, while Mitchell's time of 17:40.9 is seventh-fastest.
•This is the third-straight year that the GW women have at least two All-Conference performers.
•Mitchell is the second-straight GW first-year to earn All-Conference honors, joining teammate Olivia Syftestad, who placed 15th in 2021.
•In total, eight different GW runners set new personal records on Saturday.
