Tanner Joins Women's Rowing Staff

Former OU Novice Assistant rounds out staff
WASHINGTON -Â GW women's rowing head coach Marci Robles has announced the addition of Amelia Tanner to the team's coaching staff as an assistant coach.
"Our staff is complete! We're so excited to have Millie Tanner joining the GWWR family," Robles said. "Coach Millie brings extensive athletic experience and a mindset that is just what this team needs to continue demonstrating a commitment to discipline and excellence."
Tanner recently earned her Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver where she held an active role in the Center for Performance Excellence. At DU, she was the Community Outreach Coordinator and Sport Performance Consultant.
Tanner graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus in Sport & Performance Psychology and Coaching. There, she was also a student assistant novice rowing coach, helping lead practice organization and overall strategy. She created and executed an informal research study to better understand student-athlete performance and correspondence with overall student-athlete wellness.
Tanner also competed for the Sooners for one season before coaching for one year. She was a two-time Scholar-Athlete and Dean's Scholar and also earned a spot on the OU President's Honor Roll.
Tanner also showcased her talents as a professional cyclist starting at the age of 15. She is a 13-time Southern California and Nevada State Champion, a 12-time Junior Olympic Medalist, six-time International Medalist and six-time Junior National Medalist. She was selcted as a 2015 Team USA alternated for the World Cycling Championships in Richmond, Va. She also was a rider in the inaugural Women's Tour of California and Women's Tour of Utah.
