Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Weekend in Annapolis

Marinkovikj and Wiesemann secure doubles spot at ITA Super Regionals
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW women's tennis completed its weekend in Annapolis, Md., at the ITA Atlantic Regionals hosted by Navy.
The weekend was highlighted by Katarina Marinkovikj and Stella Wiesemann qualifying as a doubles pair for the ITA Super Regionals on Oct 22-25. Marinkovikj and Wiesemann defeated opponents from Mount St. Mary's, Morgan State and Navy to advance to the finals of the doubles bracket. The appearance marks the second-straight tournament this season that the pair has competed into the final round after playing in the doubles finale at the Bedford Cup on Sept. 26.
Marinkovikj advanced to the round of 16 in singles play before falling to Maryland's Francesca Feodorov, 6-3, 6-2. Wiesemann also played into the round of 16 but ultimately fell to the Terps' Selma Cadar, 0-6, 6-4, 6-0. Alexandra Vesikallio also competed in singles and defeated Amelia Lawson in the consolation round after falling 6-1, 6-1 to Maryland's Minorka Miranda.
