Colonials aim to notch first victory of 2020 on Wednesday
OPENING DRAW: The George Washington lacrosse team is set to open its home slate on Wednesday afternoon, hosting local foe American at 3 p.m. at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus. The Colonials will then welcome Campbell to Washington, D.C., on Sunday for a 1 p.m. bout.

LAST TIME OUT: In its third straight contest on the road to open the 2020 season, the Colonials fell to Duke, 21-6, on Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium. Ioanna Mantzouratos paced the squad with two goals on the day, while Maddy O'Brien, Catie Perkins, Kendall Lambert, and Katie Quinn netted one apiece.

SENIOR STANDARD: The senior class has proven to be the backbone of the GW front line so far in 2020. Senior co-captain Katie Quinn paces the squad along with Morgan McDonnell with seven points apiece. Quinn has found the back of the net six times through three games, including a four-goal outing at Mount St. Mary's, while McDonnell has registered three goals and four assists in two games of action. Fellow captain Caroline Kiernan has also been a key contributor on the Colonials' attack and tops the team with 12 draw controls.

ABOUT AMERICAN: The Eagles will make the short trip across town after opening their season with three consecutive victories. American kicked off 2020 with a 21-12 win over Saint Francis on the road before routing Delaware State, 18-3, in its home opener. The Eagles were able to stay in the win column on Saturday, edging Longwood, 20-19, in Farmville, Va. GW holds a slight 3-2 advantage in the series. The Colonials last faced the Eagles in 2018, coming out on top by a score of 14-11. Â
