Senior led GW softball at the plate and in the circle
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW's Faith Weber was honored as Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week after a sterling weekend at the plate and in the circle.
Over four games at the Seahawk Softball Classic, Weber hit .333 (4-for-12) with three home runs and five RBIs. The senior from New Jersey posted two hits, including her first long ball of the season, with two RBIs and two runs in GW's 15-10 win over host UNCW on Saturday.Â
She closed the weekend with a sensational all-around performance in a 2-1 victory over Brown in which she accounted for both runs via solo home runs and tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts. It was her first career multi-homer game.
In the circle, Weber went 2-1 with a 3.89 ERA in 18 innings over three starts. The right-hander struck out 19, twice matching her career high with 8 Ks.
It was the first A-10 weekly honor of Weber's career, and the first for the Colonials this season.
Weber and her teammates are set to make their debut on the Mount Vernon Campus this weekend in the Colonial Classic. The Buff and Blue host Towson on Friday at 2 p.m. before also facing Morgan State, Princeton and Georgetown during the three-day event.
