Men’s Basketball Falls at Delaware, 68-65
12/11/2020 9:26:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Last season when Delaware came to DC, GW handed the Blue Hens their first loss of the season. This time around in the First State, Delaware secured a bit of revenge.
The game was tight throughout as neither side led by more than 10 at any point and the game featured 12 ties and 10 lead changes, but the Blue Hens were able to stifle a final Buff and Blue possession as GW had the ball down three at the end of the game. After a James Bishop 3-pointer missed with eight seconds to play, Maceo Jack then had a try to tie it as the final seconds ticked away. Neither fell nor did a Jamison Battle attempt in the lane after an offensive rebound as Delaware secured the win.
Bishop and Battle finished with a game high-tying 14 apiece for GW as both hit 2-of-5 3-pointers, and the sophomore pair combined to shoot a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Bishop also finished with five assists.
Matt Moyer grabbed 12 rebounds to lead GW, and the visitors mostly found success from behind the 3-point arc until the closing seconds. For the game, GDUB connected on 9-of-18 3s, including 3-of-5 from senior Maceo Jack.
After a cancellation due to COVID-19 by South Carolina, the Gamecocks will no longer visit Smith Center on Monday. GW's next opponent is expected to be announced soon.
