Jameer Nelson Jr. wins his second A-10 Rookie of the Week Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW men's basketball first-year Jameer Nelson Jr. secured his second Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award this year after scoring a season-high 22 points against Saint Joseph's on Saturday.

Nelson finished the week averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and shot 58 percent from the field.

In the season-high contest against Saint Joseph's, Nelson shot 8-of-10 from the field with three trifectas and a monster dunk that brought the Smith Center faithful to their feet. He also pulled down six rebounds in the win.

Nelson started the week with six points and six assists at Fordham on Wednesday.

Nelson is one of five rookies to win multiple A-10 awards this season. Classmate Jamison Battle has also won the award twice with his most recent accolade on Jan. 13.

Nelson's first A-10 award came on Dec. 30th after he dropped 16 points at home against Longwood on Dec. 28.

GW hosts Davidson on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
