WASHINGTON – George Washington women's rowing head coach Marci Robles announced the hiring of Katy Ruderman as assistant coach, rounding out the team's staff for the 2019-20 season.
"When I heard that Katy was thinking about making the jump from high school to collegiate coaching, I knew I wanted her on my staff," Robles said. "Her extensive coaching experience, work ethic and passion for our sport made her the perfect fit for our program, and I am thrilled to have her here at GW."
Ruderman joins the Colonials after nine years coaching at the junior and high school level. As the Program Director for Brookline High School Rowing, she oversaw the recruitment, training, racing and travel for both her male and female athletes. She also served as the Varsity Boys Coach starting in 2010 and fostered a highly competitive team with 20+ nationally-ranked boats during the past nine years, culminating with three boys boats competing at youth nationals in 2019, including her lightweight eight that placed sixth.
"I am so excited to join Marci Robles and the GW athletics family," Ruderman said. "The team had a great season last year, and I am looking forward to working with the student-athletes to help them achieve their goals."
Along with coaching at Brookline High School, Ruderman was the Head Junior Men's Coach and Program Director at Dirty Water Boat Club and had a pair of coaching stints with Riverside Boat Club. She also coached the 2018 U23 lightweight men's double at the world championships.
