Colonials to compete in six tournaments in preparation for dual match play
2019 Fall Schedule
WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's tennis team is slated to competed in six tournaments this fall, head coach Torrie Browning announced on Friday.
Each tournament will feature flighted singles and doubles play leading up to the ITA Regional Championships, where the Colonials will compete in a tournament format for singles and doubles.
"I think this year's fall schedule is perfect for our team," said Browning. "It will give us the opportunity to play a lot of matches against quality competition. I am really looking forward to each player growing and developing during this fall season. The schedule is challenging but will only help us in the future."
For the fourth straight season, the Colonials are set to open fall competition at the Bedford Mid-Atlantic Cup from Sept. 13-16. The squad will then head to the UNCW Invite (Sept. 27-29) in Wilmington, N.C., before heading back up the coast to compete in the Blue and Gold Invite hosted by Navy on Oct. 4-6. The Colonials will concurrently be competing at the Hokie Invite in Blackburg, Virginia.
GW will then travel to Morgantown, W.V., for the WVU Invite (Oct. 18-20) before wrapping up its fall at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships (Oct. 25-29), where the winners will earn automatic bids to the ITA/USTA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in November.
