Wilkinson Sets School Record on Opening Day of A-10s

Colonials earn points in both Steeplechase events

AMHERST, Mass. - Sophomore Brittany Wilkinson set a new program best in the 800m on Saturday, highlighting a strong first day of competition for GW track & field at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.

Wilkinson bested her previous top time by four seconds and eclipsed the school record previously held by Halley Brown by one second.

Senior Aiden Kolenik came within a second of setting the school record in the men's 800m, settling instead for a PR in his final race for the Buff & Blue.

The Colonials earned points in both 3000m Steeplechase races with junior Suzanne Dannheim placing fifth in 10:24.44, just a half-second off her own school record. On the men's side, graduate student Carter Day finished sixth in 9:16.54.

Additionally, all three harriers in the women's 10000m set new personal bests in their final races. Senior Brigid Prial led the trio by finishing 10th in 36:04.80.

The competition wraps up on Sunday with action in the 1500m, 5000m and the triple jump.
