Colonials to face George Mason and Georgetown on Sunday
OFF TO THE STARTING BLOCKS: The George Washington women's rowing team will make the short trip down to the Occoquan Reservoir to face George Mason and Georgetown for the annual George's Cup on Sunday morning. The squad will send three eights and one four.
PROTECT THE CUP: Last year, the Colonials' varsity eight and 2V8 secured both the 1998 and the George's Cup against their neighboring "George" rivals.
The Class of 1998 Cup is contested between GW and Georgetown and is named in honor of GW's 1998 Varsity 8, which earned the school's first trip to the NCAA Women's Rowing Championship.
The trio of GW, Georgetown and George Mason will compete for the George's Cup, which was established in 2011 and is awarded to the top local program. GW has won both cups on five occasions - 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
VICTORY LAP: Last Friday, the team put forth a stellar performance with 2k racing in the morning on the Potomac against West Virginia. The Colonials swept the visiting Mountaineers in all four races, with the 2V8 winning by the largest split of the day, 17.60 seconds.
SCHEDULE:
V8 – 9:00 a.m.
2V8/3V8 – 9:20 a.m.
V4 – 9:40 a.m.
