Lange has been instrumental in leading GW softball (11-3) to its best start in program history.
The sophomore from Texas was named Most Valuable Player of the Carolina Classic on Sunday after pitching in all five of GW's games at the tournament and compiling a 4-1 mark. She finished the weekend with a 1.09 ERA in 32 innings with 30 strikeouts against eight walks.
Lange started the event with 20 scoreless innings, including complete-game shutouts vs. Florida Atlantic and host North Carolina. She also pitched a complete game in a 5-2 win over Maryland on Friday before tossing all nine innings in Sunday's finale, a 4-3 walk-off victory for the Colonials over UNC Greensboro.
In addition to her excellence in the circle, Lange helped herself by posting a .444 batting average (8-for-18) with three doubles and a home run. She drove in four runs and scored four times, as well.
