Women's XC Finishes Second, Men Place Third at Army Open

Dannheim notches second straight top-five finish on women's side

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - GW women's cross country recorded its second straight second-place finish to open the season while the men's team finished third in Friday's Army Open held at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
NOTES
• GW had five of the top 14 finishers in the women's meet, headlined by junior Suzanne Dannheim's fifth place finish in 20:05.9, a new 6k personal best. Dannheim has finished in the top five in both races this season after a second place result at the Mount St. Mary's Duals.
• Four female competitors raced at the 6k distance for the first time in their career, paced by junior Gabriella Vlattas, who finished 13th with a time of 20:51.6. Every runner set a new PR for the Colonials.
• The Colonials have finished second at both meets this year, trailing only Temple. GW finished ahead of Army West Point, Manhattan, and A-10 foe St. Bonaventure.
• On the men's side, sophomore Jackson Cronin was the top finisher with a time of 24:11.6, crushing his previous 8k best by two minutes. GW placed five runners in the top 21 of the field en route to a third-place finish.
• Senior Andy Weber followed up his win at Mount St. Mary's by finishing 13th on Friday in a time of 24:52.0. Five of the seven GW harriers set PR's in the distance.
• GW finished behind a pair of regionally-ranked competitors in Temple and Army West point while besting Manhattan, Marist, and St. Bonaventure.
