Colonials to host seven matches at home
2019 Schedule
WASHINGTON – After a strong fall season that saw the George Washington women's tennis team compete in a trio of prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournaments, the Colonials are set to host seven opponents at home as part of their 20-match 2019 spring schedule, head coach Torrie Browning announced on Monday.
"I think the schedule is yet another competitive one that will challenge our team," said Browning. " I'm very excited for what spring 2019 will bring. The beginning of the year will definitely help us prepare for A-10 conference play starting in March. I am looking forward to us having another strong spring season."
GW will open dual-match play on Jan. 27 at Penn State before opening its home slate at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) on Feb. 1 against local foe Howard.
The Colonials will then face back-to-back squads on the road, first making the short trip to Maryland (Feb. 2) before heading to Navy (Feb. 16). The Buff and Blue will close out play in February by hosting Drexel on Feb. 22 and traveling to William & Mary on Feb. 24.
GW is set to open A-10 action with visits to Fordham (March 1) and Duquesne (March 3). The Colonials will then welcome Liberty (March 9) and Towson (March 10) for back-to-back days of indoor play at SETLC before hitting the road to face College of Charleston on March 15.
The Colonials will then play host to ECU (March 22) at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus to begin outdoor home action.
The Buff and Blue kicks off their longest stretch of road matches of the spring at the end of March with visits to Richmond (March 23), Massachusetts (March 30), Rhode Island (March 31) and Georgetown (April 5). GW returns home to host VCU on April 7 before making the trip down to North Carolina for bouts at Davidson (April 13) and Elon (April 14).
