Cross Country Competes at Mid-Atlantic Regional Friday

Penn State to host Women 6k and Men 10k race
WASHINGTON - The GW men's and women's cross country teams will take part in the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday in State College, Pa., hosted by Penn State.
RACE FORMAT: The women will lead things off with a 6k race at 12 p.m. The men will follow with a 10k race at 1 p.m.
LAST YEAR AT THE REGIONAL: GW's men's team had a historic day at the 2017 regional, finishing a program-best 14th a year ago. The Colonials were second among A-10 competitors and were headlined by now assistant coach Matt Lange, who finished in 37th. Three different men set personal records in the race. The women finished 16th at the competition with Suzanne Dannheim setting a then-PR in the 6k distance.
IN THE RANKINGS: The Colonial men enter this weekend ranked 15th in the Mid-Atlantic region poll and have been ranked in every poll so far this season. The men have been as high as No. 11, which is tied for the highest in program history. The women re-entered the regional rankings following the A-10 Championship, also coming in at 15th. They have been ranked as high as No. 14 earlier this year.
THE COMPETITION: The men's field features competitors from 27 different institutions in the region. Princeton has been ranked as the top team in the region all season, followed by Georgetown and Villanova in this week's poll. The women are one of 31 teams competing on Friday. Villanova tops the regional poll entering the meet, followed by Penn State and West Virginia.
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Jackson Cronin and junior Suzanne Dannheim collected All-Conference honors at the Atlantic 10 meet in Mechanicsville, Va. Both finished eighth in their respective races to garner the accolade. Overall, the women placed seventh with nine of the 10 harriers posting a PR. The men finished ninth with a pair of individual PR's.
