Men’s Basketball Tips Off Season on Tuesday

The Colonials play host to Stony Brook at 7 p.m. in Smith Center
TIPPING OFF: The GW men's basketball program tips off its 105th season on Tuesday night in the Smith Center as the Colonials play host to the Stony Brook Seawolves for a 7 p.m. tip.
WATCH ON ESPN+: ESPN's new streaming platform, ESPN+ will be the new home for the majority of GW and Atlantic 10 Conference live digital events. The platform replaces events that were previously on the A-10 Network. To watch, fans will need to sign up for a subscription which is offered at a price of $4.99/month or $49.99/year and covers not only Atlantic 10 content, but all ESPN+ content. HOME OPENER TAILGATE: Get to the Smith Center early because we're closing down G Street for our Home Opener Tailgate starting at 5 p.m. There will be games, music, and free food and drinks for all ticketed fans, and admission is free for all students with a valid GWorld.
HALL OF FAME TIP-OFF: GW's matchup with Stony Brook is the first of four games that are part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic. The Colonials also play host to Siena on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the second campus-round game, before heading to the main event at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, Nov. 17-18. There, GW will face Michigan and either South Carolina or Providence.
ABOUT STONY BROOK: Stony Brook returns three of its top four scorers from last season's squad, which went 13-19 and reached the semifinals of the America East Tournament. The Seawolves were picked to finish fifth in the league's preseason poll and were represented by junior forward Akwasi Yeboah (team-high 15.3 ppg last season) on the preseason All-Conference team.
TOUGH OPENING STRETCH: In addition to the aforementioned matchups to open the season, the Colonials will also challenge themselves with a trip to Charlottesville to take on Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 11. The Cavaliers are ranked fifth in the preseason AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll and were picked to finish second behind Duke in the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason poll.
